Armatures

Here are some pictures of my armature for my old man, ill be making another armature soon as a replacement, so im making them with detachable heads.
hopefully will be able to update more soon, but got so much overtime in work at the moment :(

anyway here are a few pictures of my armatures:



1. ive basically compated the sizes to the size of the armature i drew in my sketchbook. i twisted cut bits of garden wire, using a drill, to give my armature a sterdy frame, but enough to make the character easy to move.



2. These are pictures of the padding of my character. i use some strong whte padding, and green foam pads (used for washing up normally!), they were nice and cheap and are very useful to be used as padding, as they are vew flexible, but yet strong, and isnt easy to tear.

Here are some pictures of the frst sets that im makng.
I started off by making my old mans chair. made it with lollipop sticks and bits of foam to pad it out. I also coved the whole fame with paper-mache to make the armchair more sterdier. Then to give it a more authentic look, i stitched together some red material to put over the frame, to make it look more like an armchair. (sorry for the bright pics!)

Havent updated this in a while. Really i should.
anyway im currently working on my final film, for my 3rd year.
i have done a animatic, but working on a better one atm.
will post both up in a little while.

Clean Up

just an update on what im up to.

im currently, trying to do a clean up, on my last project, i want to properly make it look professional, so im gonna add backgrounds, and add the soundtrack to it.
hopefully it will turn out better.

im also gonna be starting a new stop-motion short-film soon, off my own back really, to enter a competition, on this website that im a member of.

will add up storyboards when i get round to them.

and hopefully properly complete a good ident.

Showreel 2009

managed to hand in most of the work today. just shy of some research =( - and an Evaluation, which only remember after i handed in, that i forgot to put in the folder, doh!

im really hoping i dnt fail this module, i enjoyed the ident in the end.
besides, i really dnt wanna do a retrieval over the summer

anyway heres my showreel so far. hopefully over summer it will be a better standard, when i crack on with some side projects =)!




some more stuff will be posted up in a bit.
now i got some time, i might get a website up and running, with the help of Miss Trainer!.

Ident complete!

at long last, its all done! after my pc decided it was too hot, to complete earlier, i managed to do it.!
well without sound.
if i got time in the morning ill do the sound.
rather crack on with the portfolio
anywho, heres the final piece.

the actual animation

so i was thinking while i was on flash, i used to hate it, but since my girlfriend bought a graphics tablet, im starting to get used to it.

anyway was thinking about scrapping doing it in 2d, coz it will take forever.
so im tihnking i can get more done if im at my pc with the tablet.

so my final animation, will be done in flash

besides i want a bit of variety on my showreel.

hopefully everything will be done 2moro night.
or friday morning.

Finished Animatic!

ok, so my last post, i didnt upload the video right, so i lied, there wasnt a couple of seconds.

anyway hes the finish animatic.
obviously the jigsaw piece will have the E written on him, and obviously ill use the real E4 logo.

anyway here it is:

Animatic

here's my first couple of seconds of my Animatic. (just to for me to work out the spacing when i draw it out tonight - hence the jitteryness)
basically drawn from the images of my storyboard, then added 1 or 2 extra inbetweens.
done it on flash, as im not in uni today to test on the linetester, so it easier to do it on my pc.
obviously its not finished, but heres the first couple of seconds anyway.

Storyboard 1

Here is my first part of my storyboard.
i know how its all gonna work now, should finish the storyboard in a couple of hours, and hopefully an animatic, by the evening.
so i can start animating tomorrow

heres my first, set anyway.







just a quick description, the jigsaw piece, opens the lid, and looks around, realising hes on his own.
then proceeds to jump out of the box, and look for the other pieces. i notice now, that the last picture looks wrong, hes meant to look down.

anyway, more to come in a bit.!

some practice!

so ive made my main character - jigsaw piece, in plastacine, just to make some practice shots.
im still undecided whether to do it 3d stop mo, or 2d hand drawn

anyway, ive tried to make some sort of walk cycle, to draw from.
some of the photos are a bit shit, because my flash was too bright, so i had to burn down the image.

anyway heres a few photos of the character for now, storyboard and animatic, coming tomorrow!

Ideas!

well hear is my main character.
done front, side view and a back (just for a piss take)



im still torn between two ways of going about this.

the ident is gonna start off with a jigsaw box, and the character is gonna opene the top from inside, and realise hes the only one left.

the jigsaw piece, comes out of the box, and basically, looks around for the puzzle, as hes the last piece.


now i dunno how to end it (as its only 8 secs long)
whether the character, finds 3 seperate puzzles and is torn between which one he "fits" into.
and decides on the first one, and conveniently places himself in it.


or, he see's his puzzle and runs in excitement toward it. resulting in him tripping on the thickness of the edge of the puzzle, but luckily falls exactly into his right place.
and then revealing the E4 logo.



ill put a both pictures of scenarios in a bit, they need to be drawn better first though lol
they just crappy rough sketches atm.

Photoshop

basically this is my idea.
done it in photoshop, just fusing together, the e4 logo and a blank puzzle.
just to get the jist of it really.



gotta think around how to make the puzzle pieces come to life now!

Rough Sketch

wayyyy too much work to do, i cant even think of the self reflective folder thing we apparently gotta do. (wtf?!)
so im gonna be just working literally 24/7 till friday
except 2moro night, im watching the Arsenal game, i aint missing that for love nor money.

anyway,
this is basically a quick rough sketch of what the final scene is gonna look like, and how the E4 symbol is gonna be used.

its nothing to hard, its basically just the E4 logo, made out of jigsaw pieces.

I am going to try and actually update on here, because i really need to.
basically ive finished my essay, which i must say, im quite proud of (ill be kick in the teeth if i get a shit mark though!).
now i got 5 days encounting till i finish my ident.
i will admit, im a tad behind (lol)

but anyway, this is something to gander at, i think a few people have seen this, i think it was done by a uni student last year :



It's something im looking at, for what im doin my ident on. its basically similar goings on, but im looking at it, in a different perspective.

im basically, going to be making a jigaw box, and the lil pieces are gonna jump out, and walk around and stuff, then eventually put themselves together, to make the E4 logo.

sounds easy enough, but i just know im gonna encounter problems
HOPEFULLY - ill be able to post a working animatic tomorrow.
if not, definately some storyboards, so you all have a more understanding of what im doing.

First Post!

yes yes, this is my first post.
i suppose i should say what im doing.
well at this very moment in time, im juggling two projects.
my essay which im doing on:
Is the a place for "adult" animation in the mainstream industry?

and im also, doing a "live brief" project. which is like all stuff preparing me for work and stuff.

im making a tv-ident at the moment. and ive got my idea, but im kind of juggling around what channel i should use it for. Originally i was all for doing it for E4. but then i realised my idea is a bit childlike, so i gonna have to find a good childrens channel im thinking.

ill post up some pictures in a bit, of my idea. so you can all see, what exactly im on about, i rather in explain in picture form.
